I purchased the Roomba 570 and have been using it for a week now. I was pretty skeptical while reviewing the different models but eventually decided to buy the 570 when I found out it had a 100% unconditional (more or less) guarantee. I love it. This model can be scheduled to clean. It's set for 8am. Everyone's out of the house by 7am and it has plenty of time to make it's rounds (and re-charge if necessary). It's a great vacuum, surprisingly! Most of our home is carpeted but we also have wood and tile floors. The brushes need cleaning often (every 3 uses), and hair has to be removed from the brush ends, and that 's not the easiest thing, but it cleans very well. The only problem I 've seen so far is that it has some trouble returning/finding it 's base to re-charge when the "towers " aren 't strategically placed. It 's a gadget and that 's part of the love but more importantly, we have new carpet and this thing covers every square inch of it everyday (unlike when our kids vacuum). I would buy it again and would recommend it.

I have owned 2 roomba schedulers, each lasted slightly over 11/2 years. the brushes stoppped working and they started making a very loud grinding noise. We used them every day ( and cleaned them evryday) on our hardwood floors, we do not have any carpeting/ rugs. Let me tell you also that we no longer have any kids, but have 9 cats. Our second unit just died and after much deliberation decided to purchase the 550, a unit that seems to be the same as the 570, but is sold thru Costco. Paid $279.00. Jsut got it out and it is absolutely wonderful. It is about 1/2 the noise of our prior units and seems to clean much better, the slight slowdown prior to touching a wall is very cool, since we had already had our house roombatized ( no carpets, cords, etc...) the non tangle option i 'm unable to evaluate. Irobot does need to extend their warranty, but the ability to replace parts seems real cool.

I have owned two 500 series robots now for 10 months. Both have had multiple problems including the brush motors burning out, the arms on the spinning side brush breaking off, one robot had a fatal error in its computer system and I had to do an in-warranty exchange. The cleaning is OK but it does not clean the corners and the robots leave black lines on my white baseboards. The robots also leave clumps of pet hair strewn on the floor, even if I empty the bin daily and clean the brushes daily. I would not recommend this product.
