(5) | Fabulous Vacuum... too bad it is no longer available in the U.S. | September 16, 2007 |

This is a great little vacuum cleaner ... it does not get stuck on cords or rug fringes, and I love that it senses when it is full and empties itself out. I have a large dog that sheds a lot and 3 long-haired cats. My floors looked fabulous with this. (My floors are hardwood with a few area rugs). I left this thing on near continuously for over a year. All I had to do was empty the base about every 2 weeks, and sometimes remove cat-hair from the little wheels so they would not jam. I was hesitant buying this because I read several reviews that said the robot would often be unable to find its base. I have a large, spread-out home, and aside from a few times when it got stuck under the stove, it always found the way back. Several times it got stuck under the kitchen stove and I had to use a broom handle to retreive it. The last time it did this, I was not careful and I jammed the handle under the cleaner and broke it. I was looking to get it repaired and to buy a second unit. Unfortunately, they have been discontinued in the U.S.

I have two roomba 500 series, a now broken trilobite and got this to replace the trilobite. This is by far the best. it should be better than the Roomba considering the price difference but for me the worst of the 3 was the trilobite. I have two dogs and they moult heavily, the hairs get stuck in the carpet pile and it is even difficult to remove with a Dyson upright. the trilobite couldn 't deal with dog hair on carpet, the Roomba does but needs a lot of cleaning and maintanence. The Karcher - switch it on and forget about it. It is quiet so you can watch TV no problem while it is working. It always finds it 's base empties itself and continues where it left off after chargeing. No more dogs hair. The only thing you have to learn is to be patient in the beginning, it cleans very gentley and you may feel it is not doing it 's job well but give it a few hours and it will get everything and continue to keep on top of any dirt or hair leaving your home pristine
