The KumoTek-X (KT-X) bipedal robot is the first low-cost bi-pedal robot platform controllable by a standard wireless PS2 game pad controller. It is easy to use and available to the general public.
The KumoTek-X was designed to offer an entertaining, low-cost alternative to high-end robotics, while stylishly combining the latest in sleek design and cutting-edge robotics engineering.
The robot is capable walking, running, somersaulting, and standing up from a face-up or face-down lying position. It can be programmed to pull itself up autonomously after it has fallen over. It is 13 '' tall, has 17 servo actuated joints (i.e., 17 degrees of freedom), a 60MHz HV processor with 512kB ROM / 64kB RAM, and comes fully loaded with over 75 preprogrammed motions.
The robot also comes with an easy-to-use programming interface, "KT-X Alive!" which KumoTek touts as the most user-friendly programming utility package to date that requires little-to-no prior experience with robotics or programming in order to gain efficiency.
The lightweight aluminum composite frame allows for low power operations and easy customization. The robot is equipped with embedded speaker for playing sound files and action noises. The rotating head can be equipped with optional lighted LEDs for eyes.
Sensors
Each servo has an embedded sensor for detecting the servo's position in real time. The robot is equiped with fall-detection sensor, servo position feedback, acceleration detection and feedback to gyros.
