The LEGO Group, headquartered in Billund, Denmark, was founded in 1932. The Company has passed from father to son and is now owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder.

The name 'LEGO' is an abbreviation of the two Danish words "leg godt", meaning "play well".

The mission of LEGO Group is to inspire children to explore and challenge their own creative potential.

Its flagship product, launched in 1958, is the LEGO brick. The interlocking principle with its tubes makes it unique, and offers unlimited building possibilities. Later it expanded its product line to include DUPLO, TECHNIC, BIONICLE, EXO-FORCE and MINDSTORMS.
