Spyke is build-it-yourself robot capable of feeding a webcam video stream to a PC over the wireless connection and moving around on its triangular tank-track.
This WiFi-controlled spy robot responds to commands from a Web page and includes a video web camera (320x240, 15 fps), speakers and a microphone. It can serve as a video surveillance device: it moves around, can take pictures, record video and sound. It can email you a picture or sound an alarm if it detects motion using its motion sensors. The Wi-Fi card is included.
Spyke robot can serve as an VOIP phone, MP3 music player or you can use it as an interface to MSN Messenger, Skype (version 3.0) etc. You can also record sound and video, do light, voice and sound effects and video filters.
Spykee moves on rubber bands and is powered by two motors. It stands approximately 1 foot tall.
If it is low on batteries, it will return by itself to its charging station (included).
The kit includes 210 parts and is compatible with all Meccano parts currently available on the market. Using this set you can construct three different robot models.
The Spyke software runs on PC (Windows 2000/XP with .Net) or MAC (MAC OS X). Its software is open source, so hopefully he'll be at least a little bit hackable.
