Editor's Opinion

You can build your own spy camera robot for less than 200 USD. Unfortunately you will not be able to program it.

Description

With more than 300 parts, the Vexplorer allows users to create, experiment, and play with endless combinations of radio-controlled robotic activity. This robotic kit is part of the Vex system, already embedded in junior high school, high school, and college robotics classes. It is endorsed by FIRST, NASA, Carnegie Mellon, and other high level organizations.

In less than an hour, users can build their very own robot. Compatible with the entire Vex system, the Vexplorer can be easily expanded using optional Vex accessories and mechanical parts from other Vex machines.

As manufacturer states, using the using preassembled modules you can build a robot in under an hour.

The whole kit contains over 300 parts with many pre-assembled modules which includes spy camera, robot arm with a powerful gripper, 4 variable speed servo motors, a 6-channel radio with 150-foot range (46m), 24 gears, 6 all-terrain tires, various coated heavy metal parts, cables, tools, screws, nuts and more. Using all of this you can build your own unique radio-controlled robot configurations.

Vexplorer's spy camera has a built-in microphone and can be attached to the robot. It transmits live color pictures with sound to camera receiver module over distances up to 150 feet. 2.4 GHz, 4-channel. The camera receiver is powered by an AC adapter and plugs directly into a TV, video card, or anything that has a composite video RCA input.

The Vexplorer is also equipped with claw and arm so you can lift and move objects. The claw is strong enough to pick up a full 12-ounce can, yet delicate enough to handle a bird's feather. By simply keeping the claw control held down, the sensitive, soft plastic grip material keeps things clenched. You can mount it horizontally or vertically. The Arm's servo motors let you manipulate the action to reach high, low, and in-between.

The 6-channel hobby-class transmitter with 4 analog and 2 digital channels offer maximum flexibility to control servos and provide exceptional stability to avoid frequency drift.

For best performance we recommend using 700ma or greater lithium rechargeable batteries.

VEXplorer comes with a SolidWorks "student design kit" - a powerful design tool.

Unfortunately the robot is slow and you cannot program it.
