AIBO's personality develops by interacting with people and each AIBO grows in a different way, based on its individual experiences. AIBO becomes customized based on feedback and the software being used.
AIBO's mood changes with its environment, and its mood affects its behavior. AIBO also has instincts to move around, to look for its toys, to satisfy its curiosity, to play and communicate with its owner, to recharge when its battery is low, and to wake up when its done sleeping.
AIBO is capable of six feelings - happiness, sadness, fear, dislike, surprise, and anger. Its unique personality is developed with a combination of these unique instincts and feelings.
AIBO skill level can improve through encouragement from its owner. You can schedule your usual bed time and AIBO will go to sleep on its charging station until it's time to get up. AIBO can also use its alarm to wake you up in the morning.
Product enhancement has especially been achieved in the areas of location mapping using short term memory, verbal communication in English (understands Spanish, too) and functional internet reading using wireless LAN connectivity with PC.
In autonomous mode, the ERS-7M3 has increased pet-like actions and motions with distinctive personalities depending on how you interact. It walks fluidly, plays with its Pink Ball or AIBOne, sits, lies down, and even self-charges. It uses its Illume-Face, MIDI sounds, voice communication and lovely motions to express a wide variety of emotions and instincts to entertain you. The ERS-7M3 has newly featured short term memory, or STM, to temporarily remember the locations of its energy station, human faces, walls or pink ball and AIBOne. Recognition:
When the battery level gets lower than 40%, AIBO starts self-charging. Using the black and white pattern on the energy station pole and its visual pattern recognition, AIBO can locate and use the charger by itself.
